Are mineral-rich foods good for hearing health?

Minerals are inorganic material found in soils and rocks and are important nutrients the body needs to survive and carry out daily functions and processes. Minerals play a major role in our overall health and proper body function. Calcium makes strong bones and teeth. Zinc is an important mineral for improve the immune system. There are several important minerals, but Potassium, Magnesium, Zinc are crucial for preserving good hearing.

Potassium: Potassium is responsible for manage the amount of fluid in your blood and body tissue. It can be important to your hearing health because fluid in the inner ear, that part of the ear that translates the noises we hear into electrical impulses the brain interprets as sound, is dependent on a supply of potassium. Potassium-rich foods may include: potatoes, spinach, tomatoes, bananas, melons, oranges, yogurt and milk. 

Magnesium: Magnesium conflict the effects of free radicals deliver during loud noises — almost like a protective barrier for the delicate hair cells in the inner ear. Also, lack of sufficient magnesium in the inner ear causes the blood vessels to shrink, depriving it of valuable oxygen. Magnesium-rich foods include fruits and vegetables such as bananas, potatoes, artichokes, spinach, and broccoli.

Zinc: Zinc is an important mineral for improve your body’s immune system and is also responsible for cell growth and healing wounds, so it’s likely to helpful in warding off germs that cause the common cold and even annoying ear infections. Foods-rich in zinc may include beef, pork and dark-meat chicken, dark chocolate, almonds, peanuts, cashews.
